Welcome to the Central Virginia Planning District Commission (CVPDC) Hazard Mitigation Plan Website – a community resource designed to support risk and hazard mitigation outreach.
Mitigation is defined as “the action of lessening in severity or intensity”. Hazard mitigation focuses on lessening the severity and intensity of identified hazards as well as protecting life and property. A Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies specific actions to be taken by a community to reduce future hazard impacts and build community resilience. This Plan is created through a planning process with input from citizens, business owners, public safety officials, and other stakeholders.
This plan update was funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency through the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.
